Update part 2

I have spent the last week training alongside the Canadian World Cup Men's Team, and they kindly allowed me to race train on their race training hill. Even though the weather has turned very warm and the snow being very soft, it has been a solid training week. I was looking forward to the races held on the 10th & 11th March at the Tirol Championships in Jerzens, Austria.
I took lots of postitives from last weekends racing at the Tirol Championships in Jerzeens Austria. I was representing my WSV Tux ski club and competing against many of the top Austrian up and coming racers. In the first Slalom run I put down a fantastic time which placed me at 4th overall.
Now coming into the last few weeks of the season, will keep you updated. Cheers, Ben

Janurary Reveiw.

After a bad start to the season with the snow, it has finally arrived this month in heaps!! This has made it difficult to race though, as when it snows the weather is mostly closed in and there is to much new snow on the piste, which makes it soft and therefore to dangerous for racing!

I have picked up some great experince though this month by being forrunner for two very big races! The first one was a Giant Slalom in Kirchberg where I spend most of the time training. The second was a Slalom in Westendorf where the top 30 slalom racers in the world were also competing. Westendorf was such a great experince with just under 3000 spectators watching and it being a night! I was the very first skier down the course to open the race, really did feel the nerves in the start house looking down at so many people on the side of the slope and in the finish, was a great feeling finishing both runs though!

I am now back in Kirchberg training and preparing for my next races at the end of this week on the 26th and the 27th in Flizmoos, Austria. Will keep you updated, Cheers Ben

New Year!!

Happy new year to all! I had a good few days back home in the Uk and got back out to Austria on the 27th and Spent new years eve in Mayrhofen. Today I am leaving to go back to Kirchberg to train for the week.

Finally the snow has arrived so all of the lifts and the slopes are open over in the Kitzbuhel alps, this means we now have a great selection of training hills.

I have a bit of a break now between the races so we are going to use the time well to focus on some good training and getting stronger!

Looking forward to attacking the new year and bringing in some good results in the next races, will keep you updated, Cheers Ben

Update.

After a bad start to the season with bad snow conditions and not finishing my first 2 races. I finally managed to get a solid result in this weekend in Solda, Italy.

It was a Citizen Slalom race. With a start number of 105 I ended up making 49th place from 140 racers. This top 50 has given me confidence and a good platform to build on in the new year. Will defaiantly be aiming for top 30s throughout the rest of the season.

I am now back in Austria, and flying to England tomorrow for 6 days. Returning on the 27th straight back into training preparing for races, depending on the snow conditions in Germany at the start of the new year. Will Keep you updated, cheers Ben.

Testing In The Lab At Innsbruck University.

Last Wednesday I went to Innsbruck University to do fitness testing, with my trainer Christoph. It was a great experience, the centre they have is renound as one of the best in Europe. The results were mixed, some aspects of my fitness are strong and others need some work.

I know what I have to work on now over the rest of the summer. I wiil be tested again in the autum before the season starts. Here are some photos, cheers Ben.

Training Update.

The last few weeks have been good! I have been spending 4 to 5 hours a day in the gym working on my fitness. Managed to fit some nice rides in on the bike aswell, the terrain is great here! In the gym we have mainly been focusing on lighter weights building muscle slowly and basic cardio. This will change next month, the reps will come down and the weight will go up.

All in all I feel that this has been a great first month of my summer training block. My body feels good and I am ready to step it up again in June! Will keep you updated, cheers Ben.

May Update.

The last couple of weeks have been great! I have had some good training and have made some early progress all round. My Strength and Condition program has really kicked off down at Sport Med Tirol with my trainer Christoph. This year we are stepping it up to a whole new level again and he has brought in some new great, but tough training methods!

Over the past two weeks I have had 6 days ski training up on the Hintertux glacier with Wolfi. The snow conditions and weather have been awsome! I have even been having full courses set just for me alone.

I have been testing Salomon 2012 skis and boots. I had a great feeling for their eqipment and therefore have decided to Change to Salomon as my ski and boot supplier. I am looking forward to developing a long term relationship with them.

For the next two weeks I will be focusing on Gym work with Christoph. Will keep you updated, Cheers Ben
